I have always had a deep love for all creatures for as long as I can remember, especially insects. As a kid, I made environments for any insects I would find and brought them into my room. From Black Field Crickets that would chirp me to sleep at night, to my first stag beetle I named Betsy—adoring the unique beauty and surprises they bring, from their fuzzy bodies to their delicate antennae. Insects have always fascinated me.
Since becoming a mom and transitioning from my previous career as a photographer, I've been on a journey of self-discovery. I've dabbled in various art forms, some that have stuck with me and others that have faded
away, enjoying the process of learning new crafts. Then, one day, I stumbled upon insect pinning. It was like a light bulb went off – I could take a gorgeous little beetle and create something new with it. I rekindled the curiosity and wonder I had as a child, merging my love of the forest and flowers and collecting with my curiosity and love of insects.
Creating each still-life piece represents a part of myself that I thought was lost, and it feels incredible to have rediscovered it. I can't wait to continue this journey, grow my skills, and make more beautiful and captivating pieces for others to enjoy in their homes.
